Howdy!
I'm Danielle Parker, a Texan creative now based in Winston-Salem, NC. I've always been passionate about storytelling, and through my work as a photographer and writer, I seek to share the beauty and wonder of God's world. I’m currently part of the Two Cities Church Residency Program, where I’m pursuing my Masters in Christian Ministry while working with the student ministry.
My Photography Journey
Photography has always been a part of my life. It all started with a GoPro my dad let me borrow on a trip to the French countryside. I didn’t know it at the time, but that camera was the start of something that would grow into a lifelong passion. From there, I graduated to a Fujifilm in high school, capturing moments from my travels around the world—Europe, Asia, and beyond.
I earned a double major in Art History and Communication at Wake Forest University, where my love for photography deepened. While at Wake, I had the privilege of taking graduation photos for my classmates, an experience that taught me how to capture meaningful moments that tell a story. I also studied abroad in Venice, Italy, where I immersed myself in the beauty of art, culture, and history. It was there that I realized how powerful photography could be as a tool for telling intentional stories.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to all 7 continents, from the bush of Africa to the frozen tundra of Antarctica. Each new place offered a fresh perspective on the world, deepening my awe for God’s handiwork. But it wasn’t until I ventured to Antarctica a few years back that I discovered my true love: wildlife photography. Being in raw, untouched environments, witnessing creation as it was made—without the interference of human technology—left me in awe. It’s in these spaces that I felt God’s presence deeply, as I had space & stillness—away from the distractions of our busy world—to listen intently to His tender whispers. Through the lens, I capture the untamed beauty of His creation, sharing stories of His glory and redemptive work.
The ‘Why’ Behind My Art
Photography
At its core, my photography is about much more than just taking pictures—it's about capturing moments that reveal the glory of our Creator. Every photo I take is an invitation to reflect on God's redemptive story, from the beauty of creation to the hope of the New Heavens and the New Earth.
Travel and wildlife photography have given me the unique privilege to capture life in its purest form, showing the intricate and majestic designs of our Creator. Each image is a visual parable, a testament to the wonder of His artistry and a call to embrace our responsibility as stewards of the earth.
Poetry
In the beginning, our God spoke this breathtaking world into existence with words. Words hold power. For me, poetry is not just artful expression but an intentional way of communicating profound truths. My poems and liturgies reflect the Scripture I meditate on, convicting things the Lord communicated to me, and the experiences I’ve embraced. Each piece is a product of prayer; these words aim not to glorify my mind but our great Lord God’s.
My Mission
My mission is simple: to use the beauty of God's creation, captured through my lens, as a bridge to tell the story of the Creator and His redemptive work. Through wildlife photography, storytelling, and writing, I hope to inspire others to marvel at creation, reflect on the gospel, and embrace the call to stewardship.
As I continue to travel the world, my heart is to not only capture stunning images but to share the hope of Christ through every story, every shot. Join me on this creative journey as we reflect on the majesty of our Creator and His plan for the world.
